Berries and Basil Summer Cocktail

Yummy! Ad and I came up with a refreshing cocktail to use some of the raspberries that we picked and some of the basil from the deck garden. Ad came up with a few original, yet non descriptive names (Beavis and Raspberries,The Widow Maker) but we finally decided on something that actually made sense.

Ingredients
2 Tbs homemade raspberry simple syrup (see below)
2 oz Gin
6 oz raspberry seltzer (we used unsweetened)
3 basil leaves
1 lime wedge

First, make the raspberry simple syrup by combining 1 part water, 1 part sugar, and 1 part fruit in a small saucepan. Simmer for 5-10 minutes. That’s it! This will keep in the fridge for about 1-2 weeks.

In a highball glass, muddle the basil leaves with the gin. Then add seltzer, simple syrup, and ice. Squeeze the lime wedge and toss it in.

Now drink it!
